CanNet is a Tier-1 Aggregator meaning our backbone has multiple connections to multiple
Tier-1 providers. Additionally, CanNet has three locations all connected in a self-healing
ring; two of our locations have independent Tier-1 Internet feeds and all Internet feeds are
fully multi-homed.
All of CanNet’s facilities are fully connected via fiber directly back to the LEC
central offices and as such we have OC-level capabilities in all locations.
CanNet watches its bandwidth utilization very closely and is currently only using approximately
15% of its immediately available capacity.
CanNet has been directly assigned by ARIN its own global IP blocks. Global IP addresses are
provided to our customers at no extra charge as long as justification per the ARIN requirements can be made.
Why not use DSL or Cable in your business?
DSL or Cable can be fine in many end-user or consumer applications, but DSL and Cable solutions are not typically thought of as business or enterprise class solutions.
Some of the reasons for this are the potential lack of stability in the method of delivery, as well as
often times a lack of guaranteed bandwidth.
Many of these types of solutions also have different speeds depending on which direction
your data is flowing; typically data flows much slower going out as opposed to coming in.
Additionally, many of these solutions are slower depending on how far you are
physically from the closest central office or even how many people are using the service at a given
point in time.
For a true business or enterprise class solution, high speed Internet access is best
achieved using a dedicated point-to-point high speed circuit, such as those recommended in
CanNet’s solutions.
